Services · Loft Conversions
The quietest room in the house is often the one above it.
Overview
A loft conversion turns unused volume into some of the calmest space a home can offer — a principal suite under the eaves, a study with treetop views, a room for a growing family.
Adds space within the footprint
No loss of garden, and often less disruption to the floors below.
Light from above
Roof lights and dormers bring in soft, even daylight.
Room for retreat
Distance from the busier ground floor makes for restful rooms.

How Oakridge approaches loft conversions
The staircase decides whether a loft feels like part of the house or an afterthought, so we consider it first. We then focus on insulation, acoustic separation and joinery that makes good use of every awkward angle.

Frequently asked
Is my loft suitable for conversion?
Head height, roof structure and the staircase position are the key factors. A visit to the property is the best way to give a meaningful answer.
Will a loft conversion need planning permission?
Many are possible under permitted development, but dormers on front elevations, listed buildings and conservation areas may need consent. We will flag this early.
Where will the new staircase go?
Ideally above the existing stair, but every house differs. We will look at options that protect the rooms below.
Can we include a bathroom?
Frequently, yes. Drainage routes and head height around the fittings are the main considerations.
